About

Elisa De Martini GMBPsS
Individual and Group Psychodynamic Psychotherapist,  Psychologist and Sexologist

I hail from the enchanting city of Rome and, since 2019, I've made London my home where I brought my passion for therapy. I am proudly affiliated with the British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy (BACP). During this time, I also extended my services to the EASE Wellbeing therapy center in London, where I led psychological evaluations, risk assessments, and effective management, further enriching my professional experience.

With over 7 years of experience as a psychologist, I furthered my expertise in 2018 by obtaining a specialization in Clinical Sexology at the Italian Association of Clinical Sexology in Rome. My practice is enriched by years of honing skills and supporting individuals in their journey of growth and well-being.

Currently, I am registered with the Order of Psychologists of the Lazio region, reaffirming my commitment to the profession.
In parallel, in the United Kingdom, I am registered as a therapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as a psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), my qualifications and dedication to Dynamic Psychotherapy characterize me as a seasoned professional with a genuine passion for providing quality care.

In the meantime, I have completed my specialization at the Training School in Dynamic Psychotherapy in Rome (SFPID), becoming a psychodynamic psychotherapist for individuals and groups.

My travels between Rome and London provide a unique opportunity to integrate and enrich my practice with diverse cultural perspectives. With passion, I strive to create a non-judgmental and welcoming environment where every individual feels valued and supported in their journey of psychological growth and well-being.

I genuinely look forward to the chance to be a part of your personal journey and provide support.

My approach

Psychodynamics:

“Orientation [also called dynamic psychology], proper to authors and currents of depth psychology, which puts processes before observable manifestations of mental life, seeking their causes and ends in factors that elude the immediate recognition of consciousness.” (Treccani)

The psychological path with a psychodynamic approach allows you to embark on a path of individual discovery in relation to yourself, to others, and how life's events shape and change us.

These events have a strong power capable of influencing us on a daily basis, more or less consciously. Giving a name to the "facts" of life that are of such importance, recognizing them and welcoming them into our experience: these are the key elements of this journey, through the building of a relationship of trust with your therapist.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a type of therapy that focuses on the influence of the unconscious, past experiences and relationship dynamics on our current mind, emotions and behaviors.

During psychodynamic psychotherapy, you work to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be hidden or not consciously understood. The main objective is to explore and understand the influence of the unconscious, past experiences and relationship dynamics on a person's current emotions, thoughts and behaviors.

Imagine having a box full of memories, emotions, and thoughts that you may never have fully explored. This box represents the unconscious. During the sessions we will open  the box and explore what is inside. We will focus on how past experiences and unconscious emotions influence current thoughts, emotions and behaviors and work to explore these hidden aspects to understand how they influence the present. As a companion along this journey, my job is to help bring out what, at times, it is difficult to see and accept as part of oneself.
